When I work, I'm like a dowser with a forked stick, searching for signs of life. The initial marks I make with powdered graphite or paint fuel a process of responsive guesswork. As one small relationship leads to another, eventually something both familiar and unfamiliar materializes. I try to match the formation of these hybrid forms and spaces with names (titles) wrought by soldering together fragments of sounds and grammatical parts. |
